What we have been up to

I haven’t been keeping up. Not even close. Every time I think of doing this I think it will be too much work at that moment and then I never get back to it. I’d love to have a nice history of our days so I’m going really try harder and carve our a little time to do it, MUCH more often. 🙂

Summer Time Fun!

The kids and I have been swimming a lot this summer. B and J have both learned that it’s fun to put your face under water. Once they did that they are loving the water. Brian is a full fledged swimmer. He has no problem getting across the pool, back and forth, taking breaths as he goes. The swim teacher, Miss Tracy taught him that last week. He is doing soooo well. We are proud of both the kids for their improvement in the pool these past couple of weeks.

Happy 4th of July

We live about 2 miles from the local University where they have a fireworks show every year. We thought this would be a good year to walk over and check out the show. It started at 9. We didn’t go where we would find crowds, instead we just mosied around and ended up on an empty road when the show started and that’s were we stayed to watch. It was perfect. Not to close so it wasn’t too loud but we could still hear the music from the event going on the other side of campus.

P.E. for Homeschoolers

We are sooooo fortunate to have physical education for our homeschoolers here in South Florida. B loves going. He started this summer. He is technically suppose to be 5 to start but they let him start this summer when the program is more relaxed and he can learn with less kids, and less pressure.

J loves it too. She gets to hang out outside and play while we watch her brother. Eventually, we’ll be able to leave more and more. It’s a 3 hour program and J and I can get lots done in 3 hours!

The kids finally moved into their new rooms!

We are finally getting the kids into their rooms. We still don’t have the C/O yet but we really want to get them out of the cramped room they are sharing with all the stuff and get them into their new HUGE spaces. VERY EXCITING and just in time for naps. GG (Grandma) is over and watched a movie with them while we get everthing moved up and into place. Thanks GG!

We live about 1 mile from the beach and we visit often. Sometime we walk, sometimes we just go to see the ocean for a few minutes, sometimes we stay for hours. Today we just went for a little walk.

Laying tile downstairs

Today we made the trip to Home Depot to pick the tile for our addition…. downstairs. This includes the the office, the hall, laundry room, and the large closet under the stairs. We went with a 16 inch tile… basicly one of the cheapest we could find. We wanted something other than white. We wanted a warm tone with browns. We love the new tile.

New addition on our house

We have be in the middle of adding an addition on our home since last June. It’s been about 8 months. We are squeezed into a smaller space than we are used to and all of the belongings were moved in this the smaller space with us. Stacked where ever it would fit. We are getting along fine but we are not on any kind of schedule at this point. We try to get away from the house in the mornings when we can. We do some table time when we can but it’s really hard to just keep the house semi-clean, and keeping myself and the kids happy can be a challenge as well. Yesterday they broke though from the addition, to the main house. This was huge. Now, I can easily do laundry, and work on the addition without being away from the kids. Before, we had to go out the front, or back door, then enter the addition though the garage. Now, there is doorway from the living room, right into the addition. Perfect! We are still waiting for the a/c to be installed (today), and the electirician to come and put receipticals and switches, and we need the plumber to come and hook us up to a drain and sewer system. I won’t be posting much until we get more settled into the house over the next month or so.

Baking Cookies

The other day we made lime-chocolate cookies. I forget how excited the kids get when I want them to help out in the kitchen.

I let them put the dough on the sheet, then put their fingers on them to make a hole for the lime filling. They loved every second of it.

After we put the cookies in the oven, the kids pulled up something to sit on and sat right in front of the oven door and watched the cookies bake away.

It was fun. We’ll have to do that more often. I’ve also gotten them involved in making dinner with me. My almost 4 year old doesn’t eat a wide variety of foods. He won’t eat meat, or any veggies.

I’m hoping if he gets more involved with the food daily, he’ll be interesting in trying more things. Vegetables would be nice… the next thing I’d like to do is start a little vegetable garden. Winter is a good time to start one in Florida.
