Telescope Fun

A few months ago, we bought this used telescope from a friend for $50. It was some of the best money we could have spent! It has been awesome to have a telescope handy. From time to time, we take it out front and find, the moon, the stars. We have even watched a few planets. Our neighbors often join us. We had everyone out last month for the Super Moon! What a fun way to spend time with the family and friends!

Extreme Dot to Dot

Have you seen these Extreme Dot to Dot books? They truly are extreme! When my kids saw all of the dot on the pages, and that some of the puzzles go past 1000 dots, they were hooked! Hours of entertainment! We, of course, had to get the Prehistoric one with dinosaurs but there are many different choice out there. They are made by Mind Ware.

Where is Time Going?

Are we really halfway though March?? Only today, we updated our school room calendar. Were is the time going?

We are not taking a full week for Spring break. Instead, we are opting for a day or two here and there when needed. Im trying to reorganize this week! My school room has been a disaster for a couple weeks now. We sometimes get into the mode of using the dinner table instead if the schoolroom. When this happens, the school room becomes our dumping ground.

Late last month, my mom and I started an Etsy Store for some beaded jewelry, and other items we enjoy making. While trying to build up our inventory I’ve found myself struggling with how to manage my time between, school, the house, family, updating this blog and my bead blog, and working with my beads. It will be fun working it all into my daily routine.

Who Knew Electronics Would Be So Fun!?!

My son got this Electronic Snap Circuits by Elenco for his birthday in February. What a hit! My husband loved electronics class in high school and has been good with it since. He and my son played with this set for 2 hours when they first opened it. I think they did the first 6 project in the book. They even made an AM radio! Very cool stuff! I highly suggest it for any family.

Sorry for the bad photos. I took them excitedly with my iPhone while also cleaning up the kitchen!

Making Jewelry with the Kids

Ok, I’m obsessed with making jewelry. Really, I’m obsessed with all things beads! It’s all I want to do in my free time! I’ve even given my mother the bead bug! She has been making multiple necklaces and earrings a day for the past couple weeks. Obsessed! She was a beader as a kid, so this just rekindled her passion. The kids have gotten into the bead action as well. It’s a great little hobby for them. Bracelets, and necklaces make great gifts for them to make for friends and family. Actually, daughter is going to need a bigger bathroom with all of the bracelets she is collecting in her drawers! Alex makes some really cute bead kits for kids. This is my daughter’s favorite at the moment. It makes several stretchy, bracelets, rings and necklaces.

My daughter made this using a little green kitty she found on a trip with me to a local bead store. When she got home, she noticed that her Alex beads matched well so she put them together. So fun!

Eight is Great

I can’t believe my son is 8. It feels like he was only born yesterday.

This year’s birthday was all about Lego Ninjago. He asked to put little mini figures on his cake (key lime pie).

Looking so grown up. He saved his Lego Star Wars shirt all week so he could wear it today, on his 8th birthday!

Gotta Love South Florida in February

We were amazed at all of the Man-A-War beached today. We’ve never seen anything like it. It was advised that we didn’t swim. We took the advice. The really could have been painful!

Yesteryear Village (4-H Florida History Field Trip)

We had a nice group field trip and learned about Florida history today. The kids liked seeing the houses built in the early 1900s, and how things used to be, before electricity, and before our modern comforts like indoor plumbing! I think they enjoy their daily (almost) showers and indoor toilets now more than ever.
