Future Science Studies

The past few weeks I have been into a homeschool blog called Homeschool Den.  She has some great science experiments and activities going on over there.  Right now we are doing a simple lapbook on Botany.  My 6th grader often dives deeper into the subject than my 4th grader but they both enjoy it. I read a lot while they are cutting and writing the information then they read more.

Next up, I want to try this gross experiment.  She titled her blog entry.
Germ Experiment — Where Do Germs Grow in Your House??!
I’m sure my kids and I will be shocked at what we find.

This summer is going way to fast!  Before we know it, we’ll be back in full swing. I thought it was time to get a plan together for next year.  We won’t be starting school officially until the end of August or the beginning of September. I have not decided yet when our first day will be. We work on some lessons all summer like math, grammar and spelling, taking lots of days off for friends and fun. When are you starting back up?  Do you go all year or take a nice long break?

Homeschool Planning and Scheduling

Just wanted to share a great post over at The Homeschool Classroom by the founder and editor, Angie (also of Many Little Blessings).

The Homeschool Classrom
She shares TONS of great links and information about homeschool planning and scheduling.  I think everyone has had trouble with this area at one point or another?  She gives great ideas on how to plan and even fun ways to make Mondays a little more fun!

Have a great Thursday! 🙂

Art Linky Love <3

We have had good time this week getting into artists again. I think we’ll be sticking with it this summer.  Erica from Confessions of a Homeschooler has made a wonderful art curirulium using the simple books by Mike Venezia. We have been really happy to find most of the books needed at our local County library.

This morning, while actually going back though my Pinterest Boards with my cup of coffee, I remembered Nadene at Practical Pages. On her blog, she shares her art appreciation lesson ideas.  One of my favorite parts was her post on how she outlines artwork to use in her art lessons.  She also shares a couple for you to print out.

Where is Time Going?

Are we really halfway though March?? Only today, we updated our school room calendar.  Were is the time going?

We are not taking a full week for Spring break. Instead, we are opting for a day or two here and there when needed. Im trying to reorganize this week! My school room has been a disaster for a couple weeks now.  We sometimes get into the mode of using the dinner table instead if the schoolroom.  When this happens,  the school room becomes our dumping ground.

Late last month, my mom and I started an Etsy Store for some beaded jewelry, and other items we enjoy making. While trying to build up our inventory I’ve found myself struggling with how to manage my time between, school, the house, family, updating this blog and my bead blog, and working with my beads. It will be fun working it all into my daily routine.
